Meet the TEam

Philip Vlahos, Founder and Managing Partner at VDT Construction

Phillip Vlahos

Founder, Managing Partner

Phillip founded what would become VDT Construction in 2009, after years of working in the custom home building business. He knew from the start he wanted to build differently than the industry standard. Intentional emphasis was placed on transparency, principal involvement on every project, and a relentless focus on the craft. He has a knack for anticipating problems that haven't happened yet, and having a solution to ensure they never do. Today, he leads the firm alongside his partners Brodie DeBogory and Scottie Tuck, and is personally involved on every VDT project from first conversation to final walkthrough.

Brodie Debogory, Partner at VDT Construction

Brodie Debogory

Partner

Brodie’s path to VDT started at LSU, where he earned an MBA focused on construction management. His construction career began in 2007 across industrial, commercial, and residential builds. He joined Phillip in 2016, drawn to the same standards VDT still operates by today. He brings the depth of that experience to every home he leads.

Scottie Tuck, Partner at VDT Construction

Scottie Tuck

Partner

Scottie began his construction career in the early 1990s and has spent the years since honing his craft on the Gulf Coast. He partnered with Phillip in 2014 and today leads VDT’s Orange Beach office, overseeing the firm’s work across the Alabama Gulf Coast from Perdido Key to Fort Morgan.

Barbara Brown, Client Curator at VDT Construction

Barbara Brown

Client Curator

Behind every project is a deliberate emphasis on communication, clarity, and care. Guiding that experience is Barbara Brown, VDT's Client Curator. She manages the build and curates the entire experience around it, anticipating needs before they arise, keeping communication proactive and transparent, and removing the typical stress of custom construction. Clients consistently describe the process as collaborative and enjoyable, free to focus on the excitement of creating their dream home rather than the complications of building it.

You’ve worked hard to get to this point.

You want a builder who’s going to treat your home with the seriousness it deserves.

Most of the families who reach out to VDT have been imagining this build for awhile. They’ve vacationed in the Destin, 30A, and Orange Beach areas for years. They’ve watched neighborhoods grow up around them.

They’ve envisioned a home their families can create memories in. One they’ll pass to their children and grandchildren.

But when it comes time to actually start, they all run into the same question.

How do you choose the right builder?

They've heard the stories, sometimes from their own friends, about builders who cut corners or went dark mid-project.

What they want is simple…

Someone who will take their home as seriously as they do.

The home building industry wasn't delivering the quality families deserve

So we built a firm that would

Phillip Vlahos started building on the Gulf Coast in 2009. From the beginning, he made specific choices about how he wanted to operate. He committed to transparency and staying personally involved on every project, no matter how the firm grew.

The decision to operate in both Florida and Alabama gave us something most luxury builders in either market don't have: a deeper network of trusted subcontractors and pricing consistency that comes with sustained work in both states. Building in Destin, Santa Rosa Beach, Orange Beach, and Gulf Shores means we have the relationships and the leverage to deliver our standards in either market.

The way we built the firm wasn’t accidental.

It was a deliberate response to what the industry was failing to deliver to the families who deserved better.

Homes Built for Both Coasts

Today, VDT Construction is one of the only luxury custom home builders in Orange Beach and Destin actively building on both Florida's Emerald Coast and the Alabama Gulf Coast, with completed projects across Destin, 30A, Orange Beach, Ono Island, and Gulf Shores.

Our motivation comes from the families who entrusted us with their generational homes, and the moment we get to hand them the keys. Our passion comes from the client who said the build felt less like a project and more like a partnership. Our drive comes from the architect who told us they sleep better at night when VDT is the contractor on their drawings.

Years Later, We Still Show Up

“VDT built our house and we are thrilled. Most importantly, four years later they still show up to handle any issue we might face. Can’t say enough good things about them.”
