Start the Conversation
Every VDT build starts with a conversation. It's a chance for us to learn about your project: where you're building, what you're imagining, your timeline etc. It's also a chance for you to learn who we are and how we work.

Develop a Team
A great custom home is the product of a great team. If you're already working with an architect and interior designer you love, we will work directly with them. If you don't have an architect or designer, we will introduce you to firms we've successfully worked with. Getting the right team in place at the start is one of the most important steps. Once the team is in place, we turn your vision into a plan. We refine the drawings, identify long-lead items, secure permits, and set realistic timelines.

The Build
Construction begins. We're on-site regularly and keep the project moving forward at the quality level a home like yours deserves. We stay in close communication throughout the build and are available to you when questions arise.

On delivery day, you get more than keys to your dream home. You get a team that remains available long after you've moved in. Most of our clients stay in touch. Many bring us back for the second home.

Most VDT custom home builds take 12 to 18 months from start of construction to move-in, depending on size, complexity, and location-specific factors. Before construction begins, plan on 4 to 8 additional months for the design and pre-construction phase which includes refining drawings, developing detailed budgets, securing permits, and setting the schedule. Complex or waterfront projects can extend those timelines.

For projects at our scale, yes. Both an architect and an interior designer make a meaningful difference in the finished home. If you haven't chosen an architect or designer yet, we're glad to introduce you to firms we've worked with successfully in your market. Getting the right team in place early is one of the most important decisions in a custom build.
