Mornings at The Float begin quietly. Light comes in off the Gulf and settles across the white oak walls before anyone is awake. By afternoon, the porch table is full, the beach is just below, and all that Seaside has to offer is just steps away.
Set on the Gulf in Seaside, this home was reimagined from the inside out. White oak wraps the walls and ceilings of the living and gathering spaces, giving the whole house a calm, almost weightless feel.
THE VISION
The house was new when the owners found it, and the setting was everything they wanted. But they had a clear standard for how a home should be finished. Their vision was to take a beautiful house and bring every room up to that level, from the millwork to the stone to the smallest details most people would never notice.
Allyson Runnels Interiors gave that vision its softness, layering quiet neutrals, sea-glass blues, and touches of color in the guest rooms that feel collected rather than decorated.
Our Approach
Elevating a new home takes a different kind of discipline than building one from the ground up. We reworked the living spaces, kitchens, and baths with one goal: every surface, joint, and finish had to meet the owners’ standard, not just look good from across the room.
The white oak was the heart of the work. Every plank on the walls and ceilings was carefully aligned, matched, and finished so the grain reads as one continuous surface. It’s the kind of detail you feel more than notice, and it’s what gives the home its sense of calm.
Notable Details
White Oak Throughout
White oak-paneled walls and ceilings wrap the living and gathering spaces in a warm texture.
The Bunk Room
Custom white oak bunks with curtained nooks, built for cousins, sleepovers, and summers that never end.
The Kitchen
A pewter-polished range hood, brass fixtures, and stone counters, open to the living room so the chef is never out of the conversation.
Gulf-Front Porch
A covered dining porch where long lunches and afternoon swims look straight out over the Gulf.
Primary BAth
Marble walls and floors surround a freestanding tub, with soft light filtering through plantation shutters.
THE REsult
Today, The Float feels like it was always meant to be this way. The white oak, the marble, and the custom details all work together, letting the Gulf and the loved ones gathered around it take center stage. It’s one of our proudest luxury remodels in Seaside and a reminder of what’s possible when a home is held to a higher standard.
